The Perfect Picnic Blanket for You

There are a few things to consider when looking for the perfect Picnic Blanket for you.

1) Do you want something you can use all year round or do you only want to use it in the warmer months?

This is important because you can get a thin Outdoor Blanket that is made with a thin cotton or thin acrylic top that is good maybe for the beach and summer, but won't work well in the fall, winter, or spring when it is colder. If you think you might be using this blanket also as a Stadium Blanket when it will be cooler, it is worth spending the extra money in getting a fleece or wool top.

2) How important is quality and size?

You can find cheap Picnic Blankets as low as $15.00 (made overseas) and high quality ones between $55 to $100 (manufactured in the USA). The less expensive ones tend to be made with low quality materials, are less waterproof, smaller, and they are usually hard to fold or roll back up. So consider how you will use this Outdoor Blanket and how often. Are you giving this as a gift?

3) How easy is the Picnic Blanket to stow away?

I can always remember getting a new sleeping bag neatly rolled as a kid and somehow I could never manage to roll it back neatly or fit it in bag it came in after using it once. This DROVE ME CRAZY!!! This also happens with Picnic Blankets too. I have read many reviews on Outdoor Blankets that come with a carrying case or strap that people found hard to fit back into the carry case, had problem with the straps, or all together lost them both. It might be a good idea to find a blanket that easily folds or rolls into itself, so you don't have to worry about losing anything. This makes it convenient to keep neatly in the car too for emergency or when you need a blanket for those random occasions (like a soccer game).

The Picnic Blanket has come a long way these last 50 years from the classic red and white checker style to now choices like Leopard Print, Camo, Black Watch Plaid, and Damask. You can now find one that fits your personality and your budget!
